CHARTER CAPTAIN FINDS GLACIER BAY 3065
FISHES PHENOMENALLY

In the first 14 days of service, the captains at Reel Peace Charters (RPC) in Venice, Louisiana logged 168 hours on their new Glacier Bay Catamaran 3065 Canyon Runner armed with twin, Yamaha 250 HP 4 stroke engines.  Clients fishing from the Monroe, Washington manufacturer's latest product have caught more than 100 fish, including a 200 pound swordfish and a 184-pound yellow fin tuna.

"This boat is everything we asked for and more, it's phenomenal!" said Capt. Devlin Roussel, who with RPC partner Peace Marvel, consulted with Glacier Bay on the 30-footer's many fishing features. "The 30-footer has hit it dead-on for the kind of fishing we do, it fishes exceedingly well!"

Sure, Capt. Roussel appreciates the center console's next generation, Quantum Hull design that provides increased fuel efficiency from 6 to 8 percent as well as reduced roll and spray deflection. And, yes, the aggressive, young captain admires the extra strong, extra safe, hull structure with its seven athwart ship bulkheads, four watertight compartments, foam-filled double bottom and forward and stern, foam-filled collision compartments. The roomy, full marine head and adjustable helm seat come in handy, too.

But what Capt. Roussel finds particularly phenomenal about his GB 3065 Reel Job are its seaworthiness and its many outrageously, original fishing features:

  • The 3065 has more rod storage than I can use!
  • Everything is mounted correctly.
  • The boat handles like a dream.
  • The patent pending lure storage system is pure genius!
  • She drifts perfectly in a beam sea.
  • There is room for eight to stretch out comfortably for the ride offshore.
  • The fish boxes are humungous.
  • The insulated boxes hold ice beautifully.
  • The boat cruises the same in 6' seas as it does in 1' seas.
  • The Gulf's notoriously, rough, "square" chop does not faze the cat!

After working Reel Job 14 hours a day, every day for two weeks, Capt. Roussel still has difficulty pinpointing his absolute, favorite fishing feature, "The coolest thing about the GB 3065 is its sheer size that makes for such a wonderful ride or; maybe, it's the storage or the ice or the new live well design or…."

Capt. Roussel added with a laugh that he lives by the motto, He who dies with the most tackle wins, "But, with this boat I've got lure storage I haven't filled yet!"
